Aprecap 125mg/80mg Capsule contains Aprepitant. It is an antiemetic drug used to stop nausea and vomiting that come with surgery and chemotherapy.

Composition: Aprepitant


Mechanism of Action:

The body quickly transforms Fosaprepitant into Aprepitant after it is administered. Aprepitant blocks the function of substance P, a neurotransmitter involved in the vomiting reflex, by acting as an antagonist of the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor. This successfully prevents nausea and vomiting, both acute and delayed.


Uses:

Prevention of Nausea and Vomiting due to Chemotherapy


Dosage and Administration:

Take one 125 mg capsule of Aprecap orally 1 hour before chemotherapy. The capsules should be taken with or without food.

Storage:

How to use this Medication?

During the first several days of chemotherapy, aprepitant capsules are given orally, often once daily, beginning one hour prior to treatment. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist and make sure you are taking your medication as directed.

 

There are two strengths available for Aprepitant pills. You can be prescribed both strengths by your physician to take at various times. As instructed by your physician, you should take the appropriate strength at the appropriate time.

Do not break, chew, or crush the capsules; instead, swallow them whole.
